[Problem]
A growing grassroots coalition for the US blue economy needed a home that could carry the story, organize events and news, and onboard new members without feeling like another corporate platform.
[Approach]
- 01Structured the site around the coalition's four pillars: permitting reform, infrastructure, consumer awareness, and farmer support.
- 02Built lightweight event and news surfaces the coalition can update without a developer in the loop.
- 03Made the listserv signup the primary on-ramp and kept everything else in service of the story.
[Outcome]
A clear front door for growers, researchers, and policy folks joining the movement — and the connective tissue between the coalition's gatherings, dispatches, and ongoing advocacy.
[The finished build]
[Background]
Kelpful Coalition is a grassroots group building US aquaculture from the ground up — one permit, one farm, one wave at a time. The site organizes the coalition's four pillars (permitting reform, infrastructure, consumer awareness, and farmer support), publishes events and news, and runs a listserv signup as the primary on-ramp.
Built as quiet connective tissue: an editorial home for the story, a hub for upcoming gatherings, and a clean front door for growers, researchers, and policy folks who want to join the movement without wading through another corporate platform.
