[Studio · Field Kit]
A Field Kit I build,
you get to steer.
A ready-to-edit website for small businesses. I design and ship a complete Field Kit — then hand it off. You log in at /admin and edit every page, headline, and image yourself. If you want help drafting or polishing copy, optional writing tools are built in. You never have to use them. No retainer, no surprise add-ons.
[Which kind of build?]
Field Kit · you're here
I need a good website, fast.
I build it from a proven kit, then hand you the keys so you can edit every page yourself. One-time $850.
Custom Build
I need something built my way.
Booking, memberships, maps, dashboards — built from scratch for how you actually work. Starting at $1,500, billed at $85/hr.

Agency & research platforms
I'm with an agency, program, port, tribe, or university.
Permitting, regulatory tracking, monitoring data, shared status boards, public data portals, workforce and curriculum tools. Scoped per project, contract or subaward.

Not sure which one? Pick any — I read every request myself and move you to the better fit before anyone pays anything.
[Clear from the start]
The keys, the code, and the rights are different things.
I want you to feel confident running what I build. Handoff covers the agreed accounts, editing access, and walkthrough. Source-code access or delivery and ownership or licensing rights are separate items, each spelled out in your written proposal before you commit. Separate does not always mean an extra fee: your quote says what is included, what is not, and what any additional transfer would cost.
- Handoff
- Who runs the site, which accounts and files move, when they move, and what help is included. Publishing, moving services, and ongoing care are agreed separately.
- Code and editable files
- The exact source files, repository access, or editable design files included, their delivery format, and any exclusions. Editor access alone is not source delivery.
- Rights to use or own
- Which custom work is assigned to you and which reusable tools or third-party materials are licensed. Receiving files does not itself grant exclusive ownership or resale rights.
Your content stays yours. My pre-existing and reusable tools stay mine, with the agreed license for your project; outside materials keep their own terms. If you need a broader transfer or another developer to take over, tell me early so I can scope it with you. No added work or transfer fee starts without written approval. An inquiry is not a commitment. Read the Studio terms.
[Featured in every Field Kit]
Your own point-and-click site editor
Click anything on your pages to change the words, swap a photo, or move things around. No forms, no waiting on me. Also included: your custom domain, with site-sent email from you@yourdomain for confirmations and receipts (a personal inbox at your domain connects to your own Google or Outlook account, and I help you set that up), a pricing sheet for your own clients, and basic analytics. Bigger pieces like bookings, a content library, or an installable app are priced add-ons, so you only pay for what you actually need.
[Ongoing costs after handoff]
One-time build ($850). After I hand the site off to your own account, the only recurring bills are the website platform subscription and any extras you choose (domain, Stripe, etc.). Same cost structure as Custom Build — no markup, no hidden maintenance retainer.
[Driftline rate — built into checkout]
I keep a permanent sliding scale on this service for low-income founders, disabled-led businesses, mutual-aid groups, and BIPOC/Indigenous/queer/ trans-led work — typically 40–60% off the listed range, sometimes more. No proof required, no forms, no questions. Anything you can buy on this site has the Driftline rate built right into checkout — tours, downloads, and session deposits all show the reduced amounts as selectable options when you pay. For larger project work, just ask and I'll quote at the Driftline rate.
[How you pay me]
Venmo or Zelle — on your schedule
Studio work is paid directly by Venmo or Zelle — no card processing, no platform fees, nothing added to your total. Beyond that, I'm genuinely flexible: pay it all at once, split it in half, or chip away at it a little each month like a small no-interest loan. Whatever actually lets you get the work done.
Once your project is open, you set your own amounts and dates in your dashboard under Your payment plan, and you can change them when life changes. I see your updates on my side, and we confirm any revised payment and delivery milestones together in writing. Changing a date does not automatically change the agreement or release files or rights early.
Scope protection: your quote covers exactly what is listed. Anything extra, including new pages, features, or revisions beyond the included round, is priced and approved by you in writing before I start it, so a build can never grow past what you agreed to pay.
[Sponsor the Driftline rate]
Keep the sliding scale alive
The Driftline rate lets me work with low-income founders, disabled-led businesses, mutual-aid groups, and BIPOC/Indigenous/queer/trans-led teams at a deep discount — sometimes 40–60% off the listed range. If you've got the means and want to help more of those projects get built, a direct gift offsets the gap and keeps the studio solvent while I do it.
