[ SEAWEED COMMUNITY ACTION FUND ]

Seaweed work.
Shaped together.

Help build public understanding and demand for seaweed, and bring community-shaped priorities to lawmakers. Add your name or share what this work should address. No payment is required.

From community voices to practical change.

  • Listen to growers, workers, coastal businesses, researchers, and communities about what is needed.
  • Create checked public education materials that help people understand and choose seaweed.
  • Build a reviewed record of support and develop shared policy proposals for agency and legislative conversations.

These are proposed directions, not settled policy demands. Priorities should change with the people involved. Fair pay, open reporting, and research into possible coastal relief funds support this broader work.

A shared statement of support

I support community-led seaweed research, public education, and practical policy work shaped by the people it affects. I support fair pay for that work, transparent reporting, and research into possible disaster-relief pathways for coastal businesses. Adding my name expresses support for these aims, not agreement with every future proposal, a financial commitment, or permission to publish my personal details.

This is an evolving community proposal coordinated by Jules Marsh through Brackish & Co. It is not an official government petition, proof of industry consensus, a financial investment, or a promise of relief awards.

What should change?

Share what the plan is missing, what would be useful, or a different approach. Paid work is proposed at the same $50 hourly rate for Jules and collaborators. Priorities and methods remain open to shared review.

Disaster-relief work begins with finding and checking possible funding pathways for coastal businesses, not distributing aid.

[Sponsor the Driftline rate]

Keep the sliding scale alive

The Driftline rate lets me work with low-income founders, disabled-led businesses, mutual-aid groups, and BIPOC/Indigenous/queer/trans-led teams at a deep discount — sometimes 40–60% off the listed range. If you've got the means and want to help more of those projects get built, a direct gift offsets the gap and keeps the studio solvent while I do it.
