Brackish & Co. is a solo practice run by Jules Marsh on Camano Island, Washington. I collect as little as I can get away with, and I never sell or rent any of it. Last updated August 1, 2026.

What I collect

  • Email address — when you sign up for the Tide Line newsletter, whale sighting alerts, book a walk, or send an inquiry.
  • Mobile number — only if you explicitly opt in to Whale Watch text alerts, or provide it on a booking so I can reach you the day of.
  • Booking and order details — what you signed up for, when, and how much you paid. Card details are handled entirely by Stripe; I never see or store them.
  • Messages you send me — inquiry form text, project notes, anything you write.

What I do with it

I use your contact info only for the thing you gave it to me for: sending the alert, confirming the booking, answering the question, delivering the file. Whale alert numbers are used for whale alerts and nothing else. Newsletter addresses get the newsletter and nothing else.

I do not sell, rent, or trade your information. I do not share it with advertisers or data brokers. Mobile information is never shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes.

Who processes data on my behalf

A handful of vendors handle delivery infrastructure and see only what they need to do that job: Supabase (database and authentication), Resend (email delivery), Twilio (text message delivery), and Stripe (payments). No text-messaging originator opt-in data or consent is shared with any third party for their own purposes.

Text messages

Whale Watch alerts are opt-in only. Message frequency varies with whale activity — typically a few messages per week in season, sometimes none. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to any message to cancel, or HELP for help. Full terms are on the SMS terms page.

Cookies and tracking

No advertising trackers, no third-party analytics pixels. The site stores a small amount of data in your browser to keep you signed in and remember preferences like whether you dismissed a tour.

Getting your data out or deleted

Email jules@brackishco.org and I'll send you everything I have on you or delete it — your call, usually within a few days. Every alert and newsletter also carries a one-click unsubscribe link.

Kids

Nothing here is aimed at children under 13, and I don't knowingly collect their information. Kids on foraging walks are registered by an adult.

[Field Notes: the list]

A quiet note from the tideline, now and then.

New field guides, the occasional tour date, small-batch drops, and stray observations worth passing along. No noise. Unsubscribe anytime.

[Sponsor the Driftline rate]

Keep the sliding scale alive

The Driftline rate lets me work with low-income founders, disabled-led businesses, mutual-aid groups, and BIPOC/Indigenous/queer/trans-led teams at a deep discount — sometimes 40–60% off the listed range. If you've got the means and want to help more of those projects get built, a direct gift offsets the gap and keeps the studio solvent while I do it.
