Privacy Policy
Brackish & Co. is a solo practice run by Jules Marsh on Camano Island, Washington. I collect as little as I can get away with, and I never sell or rent any of it. Last updated August 1, 2026.
Mobile messaging (SMS) privacy
No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. We do not share, sell, rent, or otherwise provide your mobile phone number, SMS opt-in data, or messaging consent data to third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. All the above categories exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties.
Whale Watch text alerts are 100% opt-in. You provide your mobile number and check an unchecked-by-default consent box on the Whale Watch page at brackishco.org/seaweed/whales. I never purchase, import, rent, or otherwise obtain phone numbers from any third party. Your number is used only to send the whale sighting alerts you asked for and, if needed, to reply to your HELP request. Consent to receive text messages is never a condition of any purchase.
- Message frequency varies — typically 2–8 messages per week during whale season, and sometimes none at all in quiet weeks.
- Message and data rates may apply.
- Text STOP to any message to cancel at any time. Text HELP for help, or email whales@brackishco.org.
- Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
The only party that ever touches your mobile number besides me is Twilio, which delivers the messages on my behalf as a service provider. Twilio may not use your number for its own marketing, and no opt-in or consent data is shared with anyone else for any purpose. Full program terms live on the SMS terms page.
What I collect
- Email address — when you sign up for the Tide Line newsletter, whale sighting alerts, book a walk, or send an inquiry.
- Mobile number — only if you explicitly opt in to Whale Watch text alerts, or provide it on a booking so I can reach you the day of.
- Booking and order details — what you signed up for, when, and how much you paid. Card details are handled entirely by Stripe; I never see or store them.
- Messages you send me — inquiry form text, project notes, anything you write.
What I do with it
I use your contact info only for the thing you gave it to me for: sending the alert, confirming the booking, answering the question, delivering the file. Whale alert numbers are used for whale alerts and nothing else. Newsletter addresses get the newsletter and nothing else.
I do not sell, rent, or trade your information. I do not share it with advertisers or data brokers. No mobile information is shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes, and text messaging originator opt-in data and consent are never shared with any third party.
Who processes data on my behalf
A handful of service providers handle delivery infrastructure and see only what they need to do that job on my behalf: Supabase (database and authentication), Resend (email delivery), Twilio (text message delivery), and Stripe (payments). They may not use your information for their own marketing. No text messaging originator opt-in data or consent is shared with any third party for their own purposes.
Cookies and tracking
No advertising trackers, no third-party analytics pixels. The site stores a small amount of data in your browser to keep you signed in and remember preferences like whether you dismissed a tour.
Getting your data out or deleted
Email jules@brackishco.org and I'll send you everything I have on you or delete it — your call, usually within a few days. Every alert and newsletter also carries a one-click unsubscribe link.
Kids
Nothing here is aimed at children under 13, and I don't knowingly collect their information. Kids on foraging walks are registered by an adult.
