1.5 hours in the intertidal zone — seaweed history & identification, mindful ethical harvesting, and at-home processing for food and daily self-care. The Salish Sea is a generous, ever-shifting place. Over 20,000 species of algae grow worldwide; the cold, nutrient-rich water around Camano grows some of the most flavorful and nourishing — gram for gram more nutrient-dense than most terrestrial plants. We'll walk a low-tide window together, learning to identify and sustainably harvest local favorites: sugar kelp, sea lettuce, nori, rockweed, dulse — and if we're lucky, a tucked-away find with a flavor closer to truffle than vegetable. Along the way I'll point out the marine life we cross paths with — octopus, harbor seals, river otters, sculpin, crab — and share how I bring each species home: rinsing, drying, broths, salts, salves, and the small rituals that turn a walk in the rocks into a week of meals. Children 5-12 are $20 each (add a child ticket at checkout). Under 5 are free.
