[ Brackish & Co. / Jules Marsh / Current work ]
Where the river meets the sea.
A mixed-water practice: custom software, practical business solutions, brand strategy, seaweed education, and quieter consultations.
I’m Jules. I build practical tools for small teams, and I’m bringing a decade of seaweed work into a community-funded effort for clearer rules, public education, and a stronger coastal industry.

“We are sick of these tired cycles of economic vulnerability, resource grabs, and waste and harm spiraling down. We are ready to breathe differently. And evolve.”
Software for independent businesses. A working future for seaweed.
[ SEAWEED COMMUNITY ACTION FUND ]
A working future for seaweed.
I’m bringing a decade of seaweed work into a shared 12-month effort: clearer rules for growers, public education, and practical support for a community-scale industry. You do not need to know aquaculture to take part.
The plan proposes finishing CAPRA, a draft California aquaculture permitting bill, retaining a lobbyist, and building the public support to carry it. Community contributions and larger organizational funding can work together. The priorities remain open to review.
No payment or account is needed to add your name and input here. Free support and financial contributions are separate.
[Where are you headed?]
Studio, shore, and a quieter door.
[ Studio ]
Business strategy & software, built to last.
Custom web apps, database architecture, practical business solutions, financial planning, and brand strategy. I take on work the industry needs but nobody is doing at a scale small teams can actually afford — high-touch partnerships priced for the folks who need them most. Specifics upon request.
For individuals and small businesses who want a real site and a real partner — not a template and a support ticket.
[ Seaweed ]
Walks, field guides, and coastal learning.
Small-group low-tide walks and tastings around Camano Island, plus where it's legal to harvest in WA, OR & CA, a recipe and ID library, printable field guides, and a live Salish Sea whale-sighting map.
[ Quiet door ]
Enlichen — slowness, symbiosis, self-inquiry, plant medicine.
Gentle wellness coaching and teaching that holds reverence for plant medicine as ancient medicine. For the quieter side of feeling well. For those already looking.
[Rates & access]
Every service carries a sliding-scale Driftline rate — no proof required, just ask. All pricing is listed as transparent ranges; nothing is gated behind a discovery call. If the top of a range still doesn't meet your situation, I make room.

[Origin & arc]
Built for the teams the industry forgets.
Brackish started where most tools stop. The aquaculture and agriculture co-ops I work with needed operations software, financial tracking, and permitting support — but the market only serves enterprises or hobbyists. I build in the gap: high-touch platforms and consulting priced for small teams who still need enterprise-grade care.

West Coast seaweed, in one inbox: the news, the policy moves, the science worth knowing, plus walk dates and the occasional letter from me. Quiet, never noisy, and you can leave any time.
